Jacksonville dominated the regular season series against Florida, going 7-2-2 against the back-to-back Kelly Cup champs. But it’s been a different story in the playoffs where the Everblades have dominated. Florida has ended Jacksonville’s season the last two years en route to the championship.

On Tuesday night, Florida scored three times in the second period to sink the Icemen and put them in a 3-0 hole. Justin McRae found the net for Jacksonville early in the final period, but Carpenter notched his second goal less than three minutes later to give Florida the buffer.

The Everblades were winless in the regular season against Jacksonville at VyStar.

The winner will advance to a second-round series against Orlando. The Solar Bears beat top seed Greenville 4-2 in the best-of-seven series.
