JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Local organizations came together this football season to afford 25 area kids the opportunity to attend a Jacksonville Jaguars preseason game.
The Northeast Florida Chapter of the Florida Swimming Pool Association joined forces with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Safe Kids Northeast Florida, led by The Players Center for Child Health at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, to take the children to the preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Saturday.

The children were selected from a list of swimming lesson participants in the Jacksonville area. The criteria included exhibiting perfect attendance to swim lessons, mastery of water safety skills and maintaining a great attitude. The 25 children, along with their guardian, will have the opportunity to go swimming in the north end zone deck pool inside the stadium, meet The ROAR of the Jacksonville Jaguars cheerleading team and take photos with Jaxson, the team’s mascot.
FSPA is dedicated to supporting swimming lessons for people of all ages and promoting the importance of water safety. The Northeast Florida Chapter of FSPA donated $750, several chapter members also contributed; Pools by John Garner, Eagle Pools and Portofino Pools each donated $500 and David Pruette’s Electrical Services donated $300 to make the event a success.
“FSPA is proud to partner with the Jaguars and Safe Kids to reward these children for their hard work and mastery of water safety” said Debi Garner, Northeast Florida Chapter coordinator and co-owner of Pools by John Garner. “If we all work together to raise awareness for water safety, we can save lives."
“FSPA has been an active member of Safe Kids Northeast Florida,” Cindy Dennis, of Safe Kids Northeast Florida, said. “We are truly grateful for their ongoing support as we all work together to prevent childhood drowning in our region.”
