JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a violent start to 2017 in Jacksonville that saw 27 homicides in the first two months of the year, another 18 victims were killed in March and April.
Among the nine homicides in March were a 5-month-old boy, a 2-year-old girl and a 1-month-old girl who were all killed at the hands of their caretakers, according to police.

Another nine victims were killed in April, including a mother and daughter killed in a double murder-suicide by the mother's estranged husband and a man shot and killed by a police officer who was responding to a domestic violence call.
By comparison, there were five homicides in March 2016 and six homicides in April 2016.

Cooper Dubovic, 5 months
Cooper suffered fatal brain injuries March 7 when his 65-year-old babysitter Barbara Kendrick threw him into a playpen at her home on Davis Road in Oceanway, police said. She has been charged with murder in his death.
Thursday, March 9
James McClatchey, 21
McClatchey was shot to death and another man, who has not been identified, was wounded on Lamar Drive North in the Wesconnett area of Jacksonville. The extent of the second victim's injuries was not known. Police later said the case was cleared because the shooter responsible for killing McClatchey died.

James Jackson, 47
Jackson was shot to death in his car while sitting in front of his Westside home on Guardian Court with his wife next to him, police said. She was not injured. Jackson had multiple convictions for trafficking in cocaine and heroin. Police did not release any suspect information.

Robert Klein, 62
Klein was found dead in his Spring Park home on Bridgewater Circle just off Beach Boulevard near the Emerson expressway. Police said they questioned his female roommate but released her. They later said the case was ruled a justifiable homicide.
Thursday, March 23
Deborah Camp Liles, 62
Liles, a longtime music teacher, was found beaten to death inside her Panama Park home on East 59th Street, police said. Her 2010 Buick LaCrosse was missing, but the car was later found on Notter Avenue, just off Golfair Boulevard. Ex-con Adam Lawson Jr. has been charged with killing her during a robbery. It was the second time Liles had been attacked in that home. Decades before she survived an attack by a man who came to the home offering to do yard work and beat and robbed her after she turned him down. She was five months pregnant during that attack and later saw that attacker, Curtis Head, sentenced to life in prison.

Alayna Williamson, 2
Alayna died at the hospital March 23 from blunt force injuries she suffered the day before at the Inn Town Suites on St. Johns Bluff Road South, according to police. Her mother's boyfriend, Brandon Smith, 36, is charged with murder in her death. U.S. marshals found and arrested Smith in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Tyrone Kelly, 28
Kelly was found shot on East 10th Street, just north of Jacksonville's Eastside, and died at the hospital, police said. Witnesses said they heard about five gunshots. Police have no description of a possible shooter.
Friday, March 24
Sina Sharifai, 24
Sharifai was shot and killed outside the Suite nightclub at the St. Johns Town Center after an argument inside the club at closing time, according to police. Family members said he was trying to break up a fight. Off-duty officers at the scene said Sharifai was seen running away from Toray Ricketts, who was chasing him with a gun. Ricketts, 24, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Hannah Htoo, 1 month
Hannah was found unresponsive March 24 inside a San Marco apartment on Westmont Street and died several days later, police said. Hannah's mother, 24-year-old Vung Deih Nuam, was charged with child neglect before Hannah died because the infant had several unexplained injuries, officials said. Nuam told investigators she put Hannah in her crib for a nap, found her not breathing two hours later and called 911.

Lori Rush, 52, and Elizabeth Ceratt, 30
Rush and her daughter, Ceratt, were shot to death by 60-year-old Alan Rush, who then killed himself at the Monterey Condos on Beach Boulevard. Police classified the deaths as a double murder-suicide. Alan Rush was Lori's estranged husband. Police said he showed up at her condo and fatally shot her and that while he was there, his stepdaughter, Ceratt, came by to check on her mother and he shot and killed her, too. It's unclear what triggered the violence.
Sunday, April 9
David Moore, 38
Moore was fatally shot during an argument at the Park at Via Veneto Apartments at Monument Road, according to police. Police took the shooter into custody for questioning, but no arrest was announced. The shooter was later released. Police later said the case was ruled a justifiable homicide.
Saturday, April 15
Kevin Jones, 40
Jones was shot several times April 7 at the Eastside Gardens apartments on East First Street. He was taken to a hospital with what was first thought to be non-life-threatening injures but he died more than a week later. Police have not released any information about a possible shooter.
Wednesday, April 19
Eric White, 28
White was shot and killed while sitting in a car on Amazon Avenue in the Biltmore area, police said. Someone else in the car drove to a Texaco gas station on North Edgewood Avenue and called police. White died at the hospital. The case appears to be a drug deal robbery, police said. White's girlfriend, 25-year-old Summer Wilbanks, was charged with felony murder in the case. Breon Hollings was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said. White and Wilbanks had planned to pay for the drugs with counterfeit cash and pills, according to police.

D'Anna Thorn, 29, and unborn baby
Thorn, a mother of three who was five months pregnant, was stabbed to death at a home on West 21st Street near Silver Street after an argument with her boyfriend, police said. Police have charged her boyfriend, Armanuel Nathaniel Cummings, 38, with two counts of murder for Thorn and the unborn baby.
Wednesday, April 26
Selwyn Hall, 57
Hall was shot and killed by a Jacksonville police officer outside his home on East 19th Street on Jacksonville's Eastside, police said. Officers were called to the home by Hall's wife, who told police he'd assaulted her. Police said Hall resisted arrest and was hit with a stun gun, which he grabbed. When he grabbed the Taser, he was fatally shot by Officer Ryan McGee, police said. Hall's wife disputes the police account and said Hall never grabbed the Taser.

Autumn Van Camp, 36
Van Camp was found dead inside a home on Falcon Court on Jacksonville's Westside and police suspect foul play. Police have not released any suspect information.
