Police said they later learned that the man was pistol-whipped in the head and then ran through a sliding glass door to get away from his attackers, who talked about killing him.
According to police, Eric Edwards, 30, arranged with the victim, 42-year-old Thomas Foley, to clean his apartment in return for a hit of heroin.
Edwards left, returned, and accused Foley of stealing change from the apartment. That’s when he pistol-whipped him, investigators said.
As Foley ran away, police said, Edwards and Richard Aldridge, 36, got into a pickup truck, with Aldridge driving.
Foley told police that Aldridge tried to run him down a couple times.
Aldridge is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.
Edwards told officers that it’s all a mix-up.
Edwards is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.
Foley was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Part of 103rd Street was closed Sunday night due to the investigation.
