ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Two fishermen found human remains along the shore of the San Sebastian River on Sunday, according to the St. Augustine Police Department.

The Medical Examiner estimated the skeletal remains had been there for possibly a year.

The remains were found around 9:30 a.m. near the U.S. 1 bridge in the northern end of the San Sebastian River (pictured above). The area appeared to be an old transient camp that had been abandoned for some time, according to investigating detectives.

The remains had nothing with them that would identify the person. Police are asking anyone with information that might help identify the person to call the police department or Northeast Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible to receive a reward of up to $5,000.
