As the West Mims fire burns in his county and his deputies assist residents in evacuations, Charlton County Sheriff Dobie Connor learned that his son was killed in a crash on Georgia Highway 121 Tuesday night.
According to a source, Steven Connor's pickup truck left the road for an unknown reason and hit a tree. He was killed in the impact. The Georgia Highway Patrol was investigating.
