Convenience store clerk hurt in armed robbery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A store clerk was hurt during an armed robbery Saturday morning at a food mart on the Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said at about 6:15 a.m. a man between the ages of 20 and 30 entered the Sam's Food Shop on North Main Street. He came into the store holding a handgun.

The man demanded money from the store owner. That led to a struggle between the owner and the robber. The owner was injured during the struggle but it's unclear how extensive his injuries were.

The robber got away with the money. The store owner was taken to the hospital with injuries described as non life-threatening.

Anyone with information about the robber is asked to contact police.
