Gainesville police seek help to ID suspect

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two victims reported incidents early Thursday morning in Gainesville and the composite drawings they helped complete were very similar, according to the Gainesville Police Department.

Around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, a victim reported that a man grabbed her around the midsection and attempted to pull her along. He let her go when she began screaming.

Approximately an hour later, a victim awoke to find a man standing in the doorway of her bedroom. He fled when the victim's dog barked.

Both incidents occurred near the 300 block of NW 15th Street, police said.

Investigators are looking for evidence to positively identify the man. They released a pair of composite drawings done by the victims.

Anyone who recognizes the man is urged to call GPD detectives at 352-393-7670. Tipsters can also text GPD anonymously by texting keyword GPDFL plus their tip to 274637.

Officers reminded citizens to be sure to practice good safety by locking all doors and windows in their residences, walking in groups or in well-lit areas and calling 911 if they see anyone suspicious.
