JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man accused of shooting his girlfriend in the head during an argument and dumping her body earlier this month was caught in Georgia and brought back to Jacksonville to face a murder charge, the sheriff's office said Wednesday.

Percy Stucks, 30, was tracked to Richmond Hills, Georgia, where he was arrested in the death of his girlfriend, Dorelle Davis, Lt. Steve Gallaher said.

Gallaher said officers first responded to a call of suspicious circumstances on July 12 at a rooming house on Eaverson Street, and they found evidence in Stucks' room that a crime had been committed and someone had tried to clean up the blood evidence.

Police then searched for Stucks and Davis, who had been living in the rooming house for about three weeks, Gallaher said.

Richmond Hills police found Stucks in a motel room later that night, and Jacksonville detectives traveled to Georgi to interview him.

Stucks admitted that on July 8, he and Davis were arguing about how much time they were spending together, and Stucks pulled out a gun and shot Davis in the head, Gallaher said.

Stucks left Davis' body in the room and drove to Pensacola, Gallaher said.

Two days later, Stucks decided to come back to Jacksonville and clean up the room, police said. He rolled Davis' body in a carpet and blankets, put her in the back of his SUV and dumped her near West 26th Street and Spring Grove Avenue, Gallaher said.

He then drove to Richmond Hills and rented the room where he was later found by police.

Detectives searched the area on July 13 where Stucks said he left Davis' body, and they found her, police said.

Stucks was initially charged with tampering with evidence until the Medical Examiner confirmed Davis was killed by a single gunshot wound to the head, Gallaher said.

Stucks was then charged with Davis' murder.

He was transported back to Jacksonville on Tuesday and booked into the Duval County Jail.
