Palm Coast woman charged with 2nd-degree murder in husband's shooting death

Anna Pehota, 75, shot husband, John Pehota, 77, following argument

PALM COAST, Fla. – A 75-year-old woman is accused of second-degree murder in the shooting death of her husband on Wednesday, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to an emergency call from a home on Sanchez Avenue in Palm Coast about 4:32 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said Anna Pehota called 911 and told dispatchers she had shot and killed a man. Officers who arrived six minutes later found her husband, John Pehota, 77, shot to death.

"She stated that she has shot her husband and believed to have killed him," said Jim Troiano, director of the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Upon investigation of the home, officials found a gun they believe to have been used in the shooting.

Anna Pehota (shown in Flagler County Sheriff's Office mug shot) was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. She was taken to the Flagler county Sheriff's Office Detention Services Division Jail, where she is being held without bond.

Detectives said they determined Anna Pehota shot and killed her husband following an argument in their home.

Police said they had been to the home four times in the past three years: one time in 2013 for a medical call; twice in 2014, once for an assistance call and a once for a 911 call; and in 2015 for a 911 call.
