CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A yacht and two boats were destroyed in a fire early Sunday morning.
The fire broke out before 7 a.m. at a dock on Black Creek along Treasure Point Road along, about halfway between Fleming Island and Middleburg.
Twenty one units responded from Clay County Fire-Rescue along with Jacksonville Fire-Rescue Marine 5 to the fire before the fire was under control. No rescue personnel were injured.
Officials said a 47-foot Boatel yacht, a 19- foot Ski Nantique and a 16-foot Carolina Skif were all destroyed in the fire.
A family member of a boat owner at the dock spoke with News4Jax about the fire.
"We awoke and came outside and the dock was engulfed in flames. A deputy guided us front and that's all we could see. The flames were enormous. You could feel the heat when you walked out of the door," Jim Bain
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
