JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Dreaming of starting your own business but don't know where to start?
Free entrepreneurship classes are now being offered at Edward Waters College. The class is once a week and starts Oct. 6.

It's specifically designed to encourage minorities to start their own business in areas of the city that could use revitalization, but the class is open to anyone.
You do not need to be a student at Edward Waters College to enroll in the class.
- Week 1: Discussing business idea. How to get started.
- Week 2: Teaches you how to understand the financial aspects of starting your own business, including understanding accountant-speak.
- Week 3: How to market your business.
- Week 4: How to find the resources you need to be successful.
- Weeks 5-7: Developing your business plan, writing it, learning where to send it.
Edward Waters College has partnered with the U.S Small Business Administration, which also offers free advise through online courses.
According to the college, "applicants who enroll in the program will gain valuable insight into developing business and marketing plans, attracting funding, securing state certification and licenses, hiring and managing personnel, and understanding accounting, budgeting and taxes."
