COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – Columbia County firefighters helped rescue a 1-week-old foal Wednesday after it fell into a 4-foot hold in a pasture off SW County Road 240.
The owner's father called 911 after he found the foal and said he'd tried to pull it out and couldn't and was afraid the animal would die. He said the foal's mother was in distress, which made him look for the foal and he found her in the hole.

After about 25 minutes, firefighters were able to pull the foal out of the hole, and the animal was treated by Dr. Natalie Lamneck.
The foal was reunited with its mother and both mother and baby appeared to be doing fine.
