Fire crews worked to contain a 6-acre wildfire Saturday

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – Forestry officials and fire crews managed to contain a 6-acre wildfire Saturday that broke out at near Hilliard, the Florida Forestry Service said.

Fire crews from Nassau and Charlton counties along with crew from Hilliard and Callahan assisted in containing the wildfire that broke out at Andrews Road and U.S. 1.

Over 100 firefighters and more than 50 rescue vehicles responded to battle the blaze.

Firefighters continued to fight the fire near a trucking company about a mile from Andrews Road.

Two dozers were called to the area to dig lines around the fire to contain it, officials said. 

One structure was threatened by the fire, but firefighters were able to save it, officials said. 

There were no injuries reported.
