JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville family is asking for the community's help to bring their loved one back home.
Family members said 28-year-old Douglas Swanson was last seen Saturday, Dec. 14 leaving a Christmas party.
On Friday, friends and family were searching the Southside of Atlantic hoping to find clues to Swanson's disappearance. His wife, Laura Swanson, said she's heartbroken and hopes that someone out there can help.
"It's just excruciating pain all the time and I feel like a piece of my soul is missing," said Laura Swanson. "I didn't know you could feel like that about anybody, and it's just I love him so much and I just want him back."
Laura Swanson said she never expected a holiday like this. She said Saturday night her husband decided to take his white Chevy Tahoe (pictured, below) for a ride and went to meet up with friends. Later that night he went to a party on the Southside and left, but he never came home.
"Around 1:15 in the morning, he got his truck stuck in a ditch around the corner from the house. They pulled him out and that was the last time anybody has seen or heard from him," she said.
She has called every friend, every hospital. She's also checked phone records and bank statements, but nothing has turned up.
"I have been everywhere. I've probably put 2,000 miles on my car in the last couple of days," said Laura Swanson. "I've been down every back road, every nook and cranny. There's not been one parking lot I haven't went through. Every time I see a Tahoe my heart drops because I want it to be him so bad."
Douglas Swanson's mother pointed out a gray scoop on the hood of his white Tahoe. She hopes someone will see this unique distinction and help bring her baby back home.
"I need people to be looking for him and looking for his truck. It's out here somewhere. Nobody just disappears like that," said Sheril Swanson. "Doug if you can hear this, baby you got to come home. We need to know you're OK."
Douglas Swanson has tattoos including an eagle on his chest, another with a sun and palm trees. He also has a tattoo on his back that says "Swanny." He has a chipped tooth and he was last seen in either a White OC shirt or black Metal Mulisha shirt, with a gray zip-up hoodie and blue jeans.
Anyone who has any information or has seen Douglas Swanson's white Chevy Tahoe is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. You can remain anonymous. A Facebook page has also been created to raise awareness of Douglas Swanson's disappearance.
