Home burglarized while owners at hospital having baby

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville family says everything they own was stolen from their Westside home while they were away at the hospital having their first child.

Aaron and Janine Harris said about $10,000 worth of property was stolen including baby items and appliances.

"I didn't expect to see everything gone... my father-in-law was like, 'It's gone! It's just gone!' I thought well what do you mean?" Aaron Harris said.

Two televisions, a clothing iron, jewelery, a gaming system and money....all gone.

It happened while the Harris' spent one last night at the hospital before bringing their son A.J. home for the first time.

Aaron says A.J.'s clothes were picked through as if the thieves went on a shopping spree...

"It was like they left some, took some of the other, there was not rhyme or reason. Like right here, this is a camera system, a baby monitoring system and that was expensive, almost 200 dollars and I thought for sure they'd take this, and they left that," Harris said.

The Harris' have two security cameras, one at the front door, one inside. Unfortunately neither of those cameras actually record video, it's just a live feed."

The Harris' says even though so much was taken from them, they can't take one thing their love.

"That's the first thing we said to each other before we left... was look, no matter how bad it is, we're not going to over react. We're not going to let it control how we handle it, cause the most important things we have are right here in this room," Harris said.

Aaron said he's asked most of the neighbors if they saw or heard anything, but none of them did.

He's hoping someone has the answers he's looking for, until then he plans on getting his alarm system set up, so things can get back to normal.
