1 dead, 4 injured in 2nd mass shooting this week

1 man in critical condition

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the second time this week, police are investigating a shooting in Northwest Jacksonville that left multiple victims.

One person killed and three others injured in a shooting about 11 p.m. Tuesday at a home on West 24th Street near West Myrtle Avenue, in the Moncrief Park neighborhood. It is four miles from the shooting Sunday night, which injured five near Reese Park.

Police have not released the victims' names, but said they were all men in their 20s and 30s. One of the injured was reported to be in critical condition and the other two had non-life-threatening injuries.

After spending much of Wednesday investigating, police towed away a car riddled with bullets. The police report indicates that bullets also hit two homes and an SUV.

"I heard bam, bam, bam, bam, and I came to the door," said a neighbor who was afraid to have his name used or face shown. "One (person) was laying in the street and another one was laying on the porch."

The shooting was four miles from Ken Knight Drive, where two teenagers and three young adults were shot Sunday night.

"It’s very close to this location -- within a few miles. But at this time, you really can’t say whether or not it's related," Crime and safety analyst Gil Smith said it's too early to tell if the two are related.

With two nearby communities in unrest, police hope someone will give them some information, at least anonymously.  Just before investigators left the scene of Tuesday night's shootings, they placed Crime Stoppers signs in front of the home hoping someone will call with a tip.

If you have any information that can help police, call 866-845-TIPS.
