Killing of Jillian Berrios still unsolved

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – More than a month after 27-year-old Jillian Berrios was shot and killed, police are no closer to making an arrest.

On Oct. 19, police said the mother of two was killed while sitting in her car in the Park Place Apartments complex on Loring Avenue, just west of Park Avenue in Orange Park. Police said a man walked up to the car, fired shots, then took off.

On Tuesday, family and friends gathered at the place where Berrios was killed for a vigil.

Berrios' friend named Flacco pleaded for anyone with information to come forward.

"Jillian's death was senseless," he said. "We just have to find the person who did this and make them pay. People who do this stuff shouldn't be walking the streets, they should be locked up in jail. Somebody knows something. We just need somebody to step up with information."

"So many emotions, especially here where this took place. My spirit is shaken," said Zulma, Berrios' best friend. "My human side wants to be angry, but my spiritual side is telling me to stay positive."

Police are looking for what appears to be a red 2004 to 2010 Chevy Aveo Hatchback (similar to the one pictured) in connection to the shooting death. They said the suspect vehicle is believed to have been occupied by at least two black or Hispanic men.

Crime Stoppers has offered a $3,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. If you have any information about the shooting, call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-8477. You can remain anonymous.
