JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a day of fans wigging out over Trevor Lawrence’s new look and questioning if it was real or not, the Jaguars quarterback revealed the truth.
No, he didn’t cut his long hair. The Jaguars were just having locks of fun. Comb on, people, you didn’t really think Lawrence would shear his lengthy mane, did you?
Jacksonville’s schedule release drop on Thursday night was overshadowed by how the team announced it. Lawrence sat in a barber’s chair as a stylist chopped off locks of his hair. Lawrence’s long hair has been his signature look since his high school days in Cartersville, Ga., so cutting off obviously became a national headline. Front Office Sports posted that Jacksonville’s schedule release drew more than 4.3 million views, a total that ranked tied for fourth with the Jets. The Chargers had 13 million views, followed by the Jets (6.7 million) and Raiders (5.3 million).
Posts on social media poked fun at Lawrence’s new do, which was a wig with his long hair hidden underneath a wig cap. People said Lawrence looked like former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres or a even a soccer mom Karen.

After nearly a day of nonstop questions and attention – did he or didn’t he – the Jaguars posted the truth on social media.
“I’ve just gotten so used to it like this. Marissa [Lawrence] likes it longer, too. She’s seen me with short hair,” Lawrence said in the social media clip. “She’s known me forever so she doesn’t want me to cut it. I would, I’m not [opposed to it]. I just don’t know what I would do if I cut it, like what style.”
Lawrence walked out of the barbershop shoot and into the Jaguars locker room with his new hairdo. Teammates laughed and didn’t think it was real.
Chatter started online Wednesday night when his wife, Marissa Lawrence, posted an Instagram story of what looked like freshly trimmed blonde hair on the ground, teasing what turned out to be the team’s schedule release.
The nearly two-minute video showed Lawrence sitting in a barbershop chair while a barber wearing a black Jaguars shirt draped a Jaguars-themed cape around him.
