CLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 26-year-old woman was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Columbia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver and two other passengers suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to a local hospital, troopers said.

The crash was reported around 4 a.m. on County Road 245, just north of SE Sharon Lane.

According to FHP, a gray Nissan sedan, being driven by a 22-year-old Lake City man, was traveling northbound when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle left the road and hit a tree.

The right front passenger, a 26-year-old woman from Wellborn, Florida, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver and two male passengers -- ages 18 and 23 -- were all airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the FHP Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit.

The report did not indicate if anyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.
