Building owner: Vandalism at Trump office 'disappointing'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The owner of the building that houses the Donald Trump campaign headquarters in Jacksonville said she's disappointed by the vandalism that left a shattered glass door, but she's glad the man who did it wasn't hurt.

According to a police report, the man picked up a potted plant and trash can and used them to smash the glass door just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

"Buildings can be replaced, not humans. I find this type of behavior bad for all of America,” Patsy Butts said. "You're actions cause reactions. Reaction to bad actions is people look at you and say what kind of mother and father did you have? That's horrible to do that to your parents."

The glass didn't break all the way, because it's designed not to, Butts said.

"It's the type of glass that could not break, and I'm very glad it couldn't break. I understand they took their hands -- since the pot didn't do the job -- and tried to slam the glass with their hands,” Butts said.

The damage can be seen from the sidewalk. Although the glass is not cracked on the interior side of the door, volunteers put tape over the door, just in case.

“It also makes you aware that, what if someone had been here, or they were a little more violent and did something worse? It's very sad,” Trump supporter Wanda This said. “Thank goodness no one was hurt."

This said the broken glass will not break her commitment to vote.

"I would say if you don't agree with Mr. Trump then put a yard sign out for whomever it is you support,” This said. “Everyone should get out and vote. Come fall, get out there.”

Butts estimated that the glass pane will probably cost about $200 to $300 to replace, and she does plan on pressing charges.

A taco was also thrown at the front door of the campaign office, drawing plenty of tongue-in-cheek reaction on social media.
