Cross placed at intersection where Paxon High student died in crash

Marcus Chapman, 16, killed in crash involving semi on San Jose Boulevard

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The family of a 16-year-old Paxon High School student who died in a crash earlier this month placed a cross at the intersection where he was killed. 

Marcus Chapman's SUV hit a tractor-trailer, which was attempting to turn left from San Jose Boulevard to Loretto Road, about 11 p.m. March 3, police said. Chapman died at the scene.

His family put up the cross at the intersection after his funeral.

Chapman was a football player on the junior varsity team and wore jersey No. 47. The family has been raising money for his church in his memory, with donations going to the youth camp that he enjoyed.
