LAKE CITY, Fla. – The Columbia County Sheriff's Office arrested a man Saturday accused of forcing a woman to drive to a hotel, trying to sexually assault the victim, then shooting her.
Deputies responded to Lake City Medical Center after a woman arrived with a gunshot wound. Investigators said the victim, whose name was not released, was shot by Jeffery Clark Jr., 25, at the Budget Inn in Lake City.

The investigation revealed Clark met with the victim early Saturday morning and got into the victim's car uninvited. Deputies said Clark produced a handgun and insisted the victim drive him to his grandmother's house.
Once at the home, Clark insisted the victim drive him to the store and then to the Budget Inn, where the victim was forced to get a room. Once in the room, detectives said Clark made sexual advances towards the victim, who rejected him and went to the bathroom. Clark then shot through the bathroom door, striking the victim.
Clark was arrested and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility on charges of aggravated battery, attempted sexual battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence.
