Mandarin neighborhoods targeted with messages of hate

Jewish family believes timing intentional, ahead of holy days

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mandarin families awoke Sunday to hate flyers in their driveways attacking the Jewish faith.

One homeowner who lives on Bear Valley Road in Mandarin said the hate flyers, titled "Take America Back from the Jews!" were dropped driveways throughout her neighborhood. She called police to report it and was told the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was already aware of the flyers dropped in various neighborhoods, and police were looking into the matter.

News4Jax obtained the flyer, which reads in part, "America is being controlled by the Jews. They are plotting the minds of our American government, America sends billions in foreign aid to Israel and we suffer the consequences. This is what your tax dollars pay for!"

The flyer said it is from the National Socialist Movement headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. The logo on the flyer includes a Nazi swastika.

The homeowner who spoke to News4Jax did not want to be named, but said she was alarmed and upset, saying this is not the first time her neighborhood has been targeted with similar hate mail. The homeowner, who is Jewish, was particularly concerned as the most important time in the Jewish faith is approaching.

The high holy days begin on Oct. 2 with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year and is followed by Yom Kippur on Oct. 12, a day is known as the day of atonement.
