MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Has Miami Beach finally given up on being the "Sun & Fun Capital of the World?"
A transportation sign posted on a road leading to the city appears to discourage visitors from visiting a place that thrives on tourism.
The sign, located off the eastbound lanes of Julia Tuttle Causeway, reads "Welcome Vistors! Prohibited." And yes, visitors was spelled wrong.
Even local film director Billy Corben noticed the oddly-suggestive un-welcome beacon and Tweeted out a picture with the hashtag #FreudianTypo.
However, the message is part of a larger advisory on several pages that alerts tourists that glass, metal, Styrofoam and alcohol are not allowed on the city's beaches.
The sign was later turned off and the city Tweeted a message to WPLG-TV saying that the sign was being corrected and that they welcome visitors and apologize if the message offended anyone.
So stand down, South Florida. Tourists continue to be welcomed with loving arms by the city of Miami Beach.
