The qualifying deadline is at noon Friday.

Daniel Kenneth "Kenny" Leigh, a family law attorney, also filed and has qualified as a write-in candidate.

Now, there are four candidates in the race, including State Attorney Corey, who is running for a third term. Former assistant state attorney Wesley White is also in the race.

If there had only been Republicans in the race, the August primary would be open to every voter, regardless of party affiliation.

Since there’s now a qualified write-in candidate, the primary will be closed to include Republican voters only. The winner of the primary will appear on the November general election ballot, with the additional choice of a write-in candidate.
