Man posts photo of 16-year-old's body

Man posts photo saying 'I jus killed a man' after teen hit, killed on Northside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man posted a photo to Twitter of a bloody body in the street after police say he hit and killed a 16-year-old who was crossing the street Sunday night on Jacksonville's Northside.

The teen was later identified as 16-year-old Trevius L. Williams.

Sunday night, a photo of a body posted with the text "I jus killed a man" went viral on Twitter, with many people alerting the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the FBI.

Police said Monday that the photo was posted by the driver in the deadly crash on Lem Turner and that the driver never left the scene.

"There is noting to investigate about the post," JSO spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda said.

The photo has since been deleted from the account. Other posts to the same account, @b1vckbxy, said "worst night of my life," "y'all pray for me plz. prayer solves everything" and "everyone who really cares already knows the situation. so y'all can think what you want."

Police said the crash happened about 8:40 p.m. near the intersection of Lem Turner Road and Soutel Drive. Williams was taken to UF Health, where he died.

Investigators said it did not appear that Williams was using the crosswalk as he crossed the street.

James Jenkins lived next door to Williams on 11th Street, just yards away from the accident scene.

"He seemed like he didn't really bother nobody, and he was just minding his own business or whatever, and it's like – dang, man," Jenkins said. "It's crazy how you see somebody one day and they're gone the next day, man."

People familiar with the area said it's a dangerous stretch of road for pedestrians, who often don't used the crosswalk.

"You're trying to get across, and you think you're making it, but you're not making it," Altamese Ford said. "It's just dangerous for the adults and kids."

News4Jax saw person after person cross the busy road Monday afternoon, nowhere near a crosswalk.

"It's more convenient just to cross over wherever, even though it's a lot more dangerous," Terry Killmeyer said.

There is no word yet on whether the driver, whose name has not been released by police, will face charges.

News4Jax attempted to contact the driver for comment, but he has not responded.
