“We really have a lot of information that we don't know at this time other than the fact that we have a female that was found in the woods," said Sgt. Chuck Ford with the JSO Homicide Unit.

Ford said an employee at America's Best Value Inn who was cleaning up in the nearby parking lot spotted the woman's body at the edge of the woods and called police.

The autopsy by the medical examiner's office ruled out foul play, but the office is still working to determine the woman's cause of death, police said.

"We're very systematic in what we do in the Homicide Unit, and that's what we're going to do," Ford said.

It's unclear how long the woman's body was in the woods, but Ford said it did not appear that she had been there for very long.

According to JSO's crime-mapping tool, in the last six months, there have been 29 larcenies, 15 assaults, nine robberies and three burglaries within a half-mile radius of where the woman's body was found.
