David R. Mica Jr. has been named interim secretary of the Florida Department of the Lottery.
Mica, a former chief of staff in the agency, took over as interim secretary Friday, which was the last day for former Florida Lottery Secretary Tom Delacenserie, said Connie Barnes, a spokeswoman for the agency.

Delacenserie started this week as the new secretary for the Kentucky Lottery.
Barnes said Mica, who is a lawyer and earns $110,000 a year, will serve as the interim director while a search for a permanent secretary is conducted.
Mica had been the agency's chief of staff since December, when he moved to the lottery from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, where he was the director of legislative affairs.
Mica previously served as an aide to Gov. Rick Scott, including as a deputy director for external affairs.
He also served as a gubernatorial fellow in Scott's office while he was attending law school at Florida State University.
Mica is the son of David R. Mica, a longtime lobbyist for the Florida Petroleum Council.
Mica has two uncles who are former congressmen, including former U.S. Rep. John Mica, a Winter Park Republican.
