He commented on ISIS, saying the terror group is the face of evil and everyone is horrified by what it's doing.

"In recent days we see ISIS take 21 Christians and behead them simply because they are Christians. ISIS is the face of evil they are crucifying Christians beheading journalists crucifying children and we need serious leadership to stand up and destroyed ISIS," said Sen. Cruz.

Cruz condemned the Obama administration for its response.

"The president has resolutely been unwilling to utter the words radical Islamic terrorism. Just this week when ISIS beheaded 21 Christians the president refused to utter the word 'Christian,' he simply said it was 21 Egyptian citizens but it wasn't Egyptian citizens at random, it was radical Islamic terrorists targeting Christians because they're Christians," said Sen. Cruz.

The Republican Senator also commented on the change in U.S. policy with Cuba.  He said the President's policy towards Cuba is a serious mistake.

"The Castros are publicly laughing saying the Americans have submitted to Cuba. This is wrong. We should not be strengthening a totalitarian repressive communist regime 90 miles away from America," said Cruz.

Cruz also said he was looking seriously at the 2016 presidential race.

"The reason for that is simple. We are in a time of crisis, we are at the edge of a fiscal economic cliff and I think it's now or never," said Cruz.

The GOP dinner Cruz attended in Jacksonville was a fundraising event for upcoming local elections.
