JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – All lanes of Interstate 95 have reopened. The cab of a tractor-trailer carrying diesel fuel caught fire on Interstate 95 just after 4 p.m. Saturday. The firefighting and cleanup kept all northbound lanes closed for more than two hours.
Jacksonville Fire-Rescue said the trailer was carrying thousands of gallons of diesel fuel, but they managed to contain the fire to the cab so it did not spread to the tanker and prevent an event bigger fire.
Fire crews blocked drains to prevent any environmental damage and collected water used to fight the fire.
There were no injuries. The remains of the fire were cleared and all lanes reopened about 8:45 p.m.
