US Coast Guard medevacs man vomiting blood near St. Simons Island

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Coast Guard, along with Chatham County Rescue Services, had to medevac a man who was vomiting blood two miles east of Simon Island late Saturday.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew medevac’d a 41-year-old man after their 18-ft vessel became disabled.

The Charleston Coast Guard command center was notified of a disabled vessel with four people on board at 10:06 p.m.

A Coast Guard response boat and Chatham County Rescue crews arrived on scene to assist the disabled vessel and crew, where one person was vomiting blood.

The Coast Guard helicopter crew arrived on scene at 10:59 p.m. and transported the man to Savannah Memorial Hospital.

The response boat crew safely towed the disabled vessel and remaining crew to Sidney Lanier Boat Ramp.
