Family:  Wife: Pam (married 36 years).  Our two sons James and Kenny.  James is a police officer in Zone 5. He is married to Kristen who we consider the daughter we never had. Together they have Olivia our granddaughter. Kenny is a college student.

Occupation:  Director – Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (Retired)

Education:  Graduated from Paxon High School in 1977. Advanced education and training such as an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education. Graduated from both the FBI National Academy and Leadership Jacksonville. I have also attended countless professional training seminars and certification courses during my 35 year career.

Political experience:  This is my first time seeking an elected office of this type. I am honored
to have been elected or served in the following roles:
• President (x5) of the Local Fraternal Order of Police.
• President of the statewide FOP
• Chairman - Jacksonville Ethics Commission.
• Chair – City and Police Credit Union
• CEO – Morocco Shriners (2010)

What do you see as the top three issues in this race?

  • One's ability to effectively manage money ($400 million budget), people (3,200 employees) and the JSO's vast resources to keep us safe.
  • The JSO's ability to connect with our community to foster that relationship of trust and avoid a situation like Ferguson, Missouri.
  • Restoring the department as the premier agency it once was which includes promoting morale in the department especially with the financial (salary and pension) challenges.
