The Electrical Training Alliance of Jacksonville operates a five-year electrical apprenticeship training program. Apprentices engage in full-time work during the day with sponsor contractors and attend classes two nights a week. As inside and VDV apprentices progress through the program, they receive annual pay increases based on their classification. Benefits for apprentices include health and welfare coverage and participation in NEBF retirement plans.
Committed to advancing the education of apprentices and journey-workers in the organized electrical industry, ETAJAX ensures quality apprenticeship and journey-worker level training in commercial and industrial electrical technology, as well as voice-data-video (VDV) technology.
All instructors at ETAJAX are graduates of the program. Many hold master electrical licenses and/or college degrees and are actively employed in the trade. Faculty members work in various trade-related roles such as inside wireman, project managers, estimators, facility maintenance personnel, construction safety officers, and business owners. This diverse faculty provides apprentices with a broad spectrum of trade experience and knowledge delivered by experienced and highly educated subject matter experts.
ETAJAX continually updates, improves, and develops its state-of-the-art training program and facilities to meet evolving industry needs and standards. Continuing educational courses for journey-workers cover a range of topics including NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, photovoltaic solar technology, electrical vehicle infrastructure technology, motor control systems, NEC code, and security access technology.
