Ford honors Shad Khan's Flex-N-Gate

Ford Motor Company gives two awards to parts manufacturer

Shad Khan came to the United States at age 16 to attend the University of Illinois. In 1980, he purchased Flex-N-Gate Corp. and built it into a major manufacturer of bumper systems for pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles built in North America.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The company Shad Khan build into a major manufacturer of auto parts was awarded with two high honors by the Ford Motor Company.

Flex-N-Gate was the recipient of a Recognition of Achievement Award for superiority in Aligned Business Framework Principles and a gold-level World Excellence Award saluting suppliers who bring diverse cultures, values and ideas to Ford and its 175,000 employees and 65 plants throughout the world.

Flex-N-Gate was one of only two suppliers worldwide to receive the ABF award and one of only 14 suppliers to earn gold-level honors in the World Excellence Award category.

"To be honored by Ford with the ABF recognition and Gold in the World Excellence Awards is a tribute to our employees at all Flex-N-Gate plants,"  Khan said. Flex-N-Gate is the 14th-largest North American automotive supplier, employing more than 16,000 people at 52 manufacturing and nine product development and engineering facilities throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Spain.

Their products include interior and exterior plastics, lighting systems, mechanical assemblies, metal structural body components and exterior metal parts.
