Beachwalk Club to host annual Special Olympics Florida polar plunge in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla.Special Olympics Florida will host its annual Polar Plunge fundraiser on March 3 at Beachwalk Club Crystal Lagoon in St. Johns County after it was rescheduled due to inclement weather, according to a release.

The St. Johns event is one of three plunges that Special Olympics Florida holds annually, with the other two taking place in Tampa and Orlando.

The release said each year, hundreds of people turn out to help Special Olympics Florida athletes and brave the somewhat chilly waters. The plunge becomes a giant pool party with music, food, and special guests.

“The Polar Plunge is the coolest fundraiser in the state,” Special Olympics Florida President & CEO Sherry Wheelock said. “We are incredibly grateful to our partners and hosts in St. Johns for making this such a fun, exciting, and inspiring event. They are truly committed to championing the athletes of Special Olympics Florida.”
