FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – Critics are saying this event is shrimp-ly the best!
USA Today has nominated the Fernandina Beach Shrimp Drop for the best New Year’s Eve celebration.

Organized by the non-profit, Light Up Amelia, visitors gather along the riverfront in downtown Fernandina Beach to watch a giant shrimp covered in lights fall to ring in the new year.
Whichever “drop” gets the most votes wins!
Some of the competition includes a giant pierogi, a pinecone and a potato.
As of Thursday, the Shrimp Drop is currently ranked number four on the list. Meanwhile, the famous Times Square Ball Drop is sitting at number ten.
