ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – News4JAX is shining a spotlight on House of Prism in St. Augustine as part of our Pride Month celebration.
Co-founded by three friends who saw a need in the nation’s oldest city, House of Prism provides advocacy, education, and services for LGBTQIA+ individuals.

It empowers the LGBTQIA+ community through networking, community outreach and promoting diversity with the goal of improving self-worth, opportunities and safety for youth and adults in St. Augustine.
From Drag Bingo and Comedy Night to a River Cleanup and Board Game Meetup, House of Prism has events scheduled all through June to celebrate Pride Month.
But the group’s signature event is the St. Augustine Pride Parade and festival.
This year it’s scheduled to step off at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, June 21, from 75 King St., ending at the Castillo de San Marcos.
Sponsors will have tables set up near the fort, and community leaders will give speeches.
House of Prism is still accepting organizations for the parade. You have until Saturday, June 14, to sign up.
Looking to the future, House of Prism wants to create aphysical LGBTQIA+ resource center in St. Augustine that would provide a queer library, offer a safe meeting space and education courses, and distribute safer sex products.
The organization is also committed to opening a home for LGBTQIA+ kids who are in the foster care system.
