JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Want to know what's on your child's school lunch menu today? If you're in Duval County, there's now an app for that!
It's called Nutrislice. It brings school lunch menus, as well as important nutritional information, right to your fingertips. There's also an interactive website.

"Eat. Learn. Live" is the motto behind the new app that is a result of a partnership between Chartwells-Thompson Dining Services and Duval County Public Schools. "We're making it a lot easier for Duval County students to find out exactly what they will be eating, so they can get on with learning and living," says Brian Giles, Vice President of Operations for Chartwells-Thompson.
Other features and advantages of the Nutrislice program include nutritional analysis and ingredients, food photos and descriptions, and a free app for both Apple and Android devices.
"This is a great tool," says Karen Nuland, parent of a student at Stanton College Prep. "The Nutrislice app is fun, interactive and provides a wealth of information that encourages healthy eating."
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) partnered with Nutrislice to develop this interactive menu and provide it to Florida school districts free of charge. The Nutrislice app is available to more than 2 million students across Florida. By providing the information through tablets and smart phones, FDACS aims to empower students and parents to make healthy choices at breakfast and lunch.
This new partnership is part of Chartwells K12's commitment to Duval County students, including fresh menus, food trucks, school café renovations, and partnerships with the National Gardening Association and Prevent Child Abuse America, all of which are transforming the school lunch experience.
It's free and parents and students can download it on their tablets and smart phones.
