2016 Jacksonville Jazz Festival lineup announced

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 2016 Jacksonville Jazz Festival entertainment lineup and schedule was announced by the city Thursday.

The free festival, founded in 1981, will be held downtown on Memorial Day weekend, May 26 to 29.

The full lineup includes KEM, John Batiste & Stay Human, Snarky Puppy, the McCoy Tyner Quartet, Dr. John, Generation NeXt featuring Nicholas Cole, Lin Rountree & Lebron, the Yellowjackets, Dizzy Gillespie™ Afro-Cuban Experience, Nathan East, Cyrille Aimee, SOMI, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Jamison Ross, Ken Ford, Lizz Wright, Mark Pender presented by Buffet Crampon and more.

Local performers include the Douglas Anderson jazz band, UNF Jazz Ensemble I, The Chris Thomas Band, Terry “Doc” Handy, John Lumpkin and the Covenant, Gary Starling Group featuring Russel George, and Eric Carter & Co.

Other festival activities include the Jacksonville Jazz piano competition, Jazz Marketplace, the Omni Sacred Jazz Brunch featuring the Noel Freidline Quintet, the Jazz clinic featuring Mark Pender, Jazz Jam with Lisa Kelly and Jazz Fest after dark.
