Jacksonville community speaks out about everything that has unfolded in Diddy’s sex trafficking case

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested Monday in New York after a federal grand jury indicted him.

He faces federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges in the indictment that was unsealed Tuesday. Diddy has pleaded not guilty.

The arrest and indictment come after a months-long sex trafficking investigation and 10 months after a flurry of women came forward with allegations of sexual and other abuse.

The alleged assaults date back to 2008.

The situation has the community talking, including listeners of Jacksonville’s hip-hop station 93.3 the Beat. Calls from listeners came flowing into the radio station after radio personality T-Roy opened the floor for opinions.

“It was bound to happen,” one caller said.

“He’s in some trouble, man,” another said.

The 14-page indictment covers explicit details of Combs allegedly assaulting several women. He is accused of “verbal, emotional, physical and sexual” abuse and that he “hit, kicked, threw objects at, and dragged victims, at times, by their hair” in assaults that took “days or weeks to heal.”

A judge on Tuesday ordered Combs to remain in jail to await trial.

“When this first started coming down last night and this morning, it was unbelievable because now they’re saying he’s officially charged with three or four different counts of things. Just the reaction of what everybody has been saying on social media or just like you are asking me. More people have asked, ‘What does this mean now?’ I was like, I don’t know. I’m learning just like you,” T-Roy said.

T-Roy believed there was more to the story.

“You have to remember that Diddy bumped shoulders with a lot of people, so you have to imagine how many people were a part of what was going on behind the curtain,” he said.
