JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The civil lawsuit against Vince McMahon has been put on hold while a Department of Justice investigation into the former WWE owner is ongoing. (Going Ringside has covered this case extensively here, here and here).
But the spokesperson for McMahon’s accuser, Janel Grant, is speaking out.
Going Ringside Host Scott Johnson spoke with Kendra Barkoff Lamy, who has joined Grant’s legal team and was a former spokesperson for President Joe Biden when he was vice president.
We touch on many subjects in this interview, including Grant’s legal team pushing for WWE to release current and former employees from non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), what type of high-profile stars could be called to testify in the case and whether McMahon’s DOJ case could be dropped or he could be pardoned if Donald Trump is elected president again.
Trump has a close relationship with McMahon and his estranged wife, Linda, that stretches back several decades. Going Ringside has laid out Trump’s history in pro wrestling here.
“She would love all proceedings to move as quickly and expeditiously as possible,” Lamy said for Grant of the DOJ investigation and lawsuit.
McMahon has been back in the headlines in recent weeks as Netflix released its “Mr. McMahon” docuseries that includes the allegations made by Grant.
“It was very troubling,” said Lamy. “If you have read Ms. Grant’s complaint, you will understand the atrocities she experienced at the hands of Vince McMahon. She was essentially human trafficked.”
McMahon has continuously said he’s not guilty of any crimes.
In one of a few statements McMahon has put out publicly regarding the lawsuit, he said it is “replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name.”
Going Ringside has reached out to both WWE and lawyers for McMahon regarding this interview and the push for the withdrawal of the NDAs. So far we have not received a response but will update if we do.
