James Earl Jones once narrated a video to help bring an NFL team to Jacksonville. It’s as epic as you think

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The world lost a legend on Monday.

James Earl Jones, who overcame racial prejudice and a severe stutter to become a celebrated icon of stage and screen, died at the age of 93.

Outside of his brilliant acting, Jones’ deep, commanding voice was heard everywhere from CNN, “The Lion King” and Darth Vader.

Jones and his distinct voice are also a part of Jacksonville Jaguars history.

Back when the city was trying desperately to bring an NFL team to the River City, Jones narrated a video titled "City of Dreams: Jacksonville’s Bid for an NFL Team.”

In the video, Jones details Jacksonville’s storied football history and excitement at the prospect of getting an NFL franchise, and in the end, it worked.
