For the first year, we updated news stories each weekday morning and evening and added some other content to support WJXT's on air newscasts.
In our second year, we took on a little more sophisticated appearance and offered move choices of content.
Still no video in the early years, but we added real-time updates from our downtown towercam in 1998.
Interactive features and special coverage of continuing issues are added to the growing website.
We survived the new millennium together and, behind the scenes, began a major digital overhaul.
WJXT's website is relaunched as News4Jax.com shortly before the 2000 presidential election.
In the days and weeks after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the national was galvanized by the tragedy.
Two years on our new platform, News4Jax.com continues to evolve to serve our viewers' growing needs online.
News4Jax kept us informed as the country grieved the loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia astronauts in February 2003.
Gavel-to-gavel coverage of the trial of a white man in the fatal shooting of a Black teenager riveted our digital audience in February 2004.
By fall 2004, with more digital tools, News4Jax offered live updates not only of the presidential election but every race on the ballots in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

25 years after launch, News4jax is updated every few minutes with local, state and national news. It remains the most-used local online news and information source.
