JACKONSVILLE, Fla. – The Mayo Clinic Cancer Center at St. Vincent's Riverside opened Monday to patients in need of cancer care and services.
The 11,500-square-foot center is a collaboration between Mayo Clinic's Florida Campus -- a nationally ranked comprehensive cancer care unit -- and St. Vincent's HealthCare -- a part of the nation's largest, nonprofit health system Ascension.

"We are excited to launch this community collaboration and we look forward to further meeting the needs of cancer patients, right here in their own community,” Mayo Clinic CEO Dr. Gianrico Farrugia said.
Farrugia said working together, patients will be able to receive the cancer care they need at St. Vincent's in Riverside and then be able to go to Mayo Clinic's San Pablo Road location for more complex care.
Tom VanOsdol, chief operating officer of St. Vincent's, pointed out the advantage and benefits of the new facility's natural surroundings.
"At the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center located at St. Vincent’s Riverside, patients will receive the best of both worlds: world-renowned cancer care delivered by Mayo physicians in the holistic, compassionate tradition of St. Vincent’s and in our beautiful setting along the St. Johns River," VanOsdol said.
Services at the new center include medical oncology, an infusion center for chemotherapy and specialized care for various types of cancer.
An official blessing and dedication ceremony will be held Nov. 7 for the new addition to the Riverside campus.
