JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Need some extra motivation to be among the 9% of people who follow through on their New Year’s resolutions? Tuesday just happens to be National Motivation and Inspiration Day.
Austin J. Franklin, a motivational speaker, author and CEO, has three suggestions that can lead to achieving your goals this year.
First is focusing less on our goals and more on our visions.
“When in alignment with our personal and team visions, we become more likely to attain the goals that we set on our path of achievement,” Franklin said.
He spent last year sharing some of those perspectives across the country, speaking to thousands of people in 16 different cities.
Franklin’s second recommendation is to take time to pause.
“Gallup research has reported that globally, we are experiencing the most stress that we have ever, ever felt, specifically in the U.S. and Canada,” Franklin said. “Domestically we are getting hit the hardest.”
He adds that burnout is a big factor in that stress.
“We need to remember that we are not machines,” Franklin said. “We are human beings. Not human machines. We need to take time to pause, embrace, self-care, and (focus on) our own well-being.”
The last tip is to focus on serving beyond our current occupation.
“Check on someone elderly,” Franklin suggested. “Help someone who is a part of the next generation, mentor someone or donate to a necessary cause.”
He also said to avoid the pressure to check off every single thing on our lists.
“At the end of the day, we are not going to be perfect,” Franklin said. “We are not going to be flawless. I think that we want to have a fulfilling life. Fulfillment can be subjective from the standpoint of what someone is interested in doing. I think at the end of the day, most people want to have a happy or healthy, personal body or life experience.”
Franklin said those are just a few ways to potentially have a prosperous 2024.
