How to sign up for the Walk to End Lupus Now Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lupus is an autoimmune disease that affects 1.5 million Americans, but awareness remains very low.

Lupus affects millions globally, causing pain and inflammation throughout the body with symptoms ranging from fatigue and joint pain to impacting organs, including kidney and heart disease.

While lupus can affect anyone, 9 out of 10 people with lupus are women.

Dozens of people will be participating Sunday in this year’s “Walk to End Lupus Now Jacksonville.”

Margaux Burton and Jayla Royal are a mother and daughter who understand what’s it like to live with lupus.

Royal was diagnosed as a little girl, and she and her mother started a foundation called Jayla’s Smile.

The Walk to End Lupus Now is Sunday at the Riverside Arts Market and it’s not too late to sign up.

The 1-mile walk begins at 3:30 p.m. following a 3 p.m. ceremony. Check-in begins at 2 p.m.
