BBB warns of scams connected to Summer Olympics

The Summer Olympics begin this Friday, and the Better Business Bureau is warning people about scams already making the rounds, so you don’t get played during the games.

One popular Olympics scam is actually a job scam targeting college students.

Students will get an email offering them money to drive around with Olympics ads wrapped on their vehicles.

But don’t fall for it.

Another popular scam is counterfeit merchandise. To avoid fakes, shop with reputable dealers and check all terms and conditions of a sale before you buy.

If possible, work with a dealer who can guarantee a full refund of your purchase if you ever discover it’s a fraud.

And finally, when it comes to watching the game, make sure you use a reputable streaming link.

Never click links in social media comments or from unfamiliar places, and never enter your personal information in order to watch.

If you see a scam, you can report it to ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
