Most working Americans fear retirement more than death, survey finds

Researchers at Live Career found 61% of working Americans are more worried about retiring than dying.

They also say 64% fear retirement more than divorce and 55% are more worried about retirement than getting fired.

Another 53% worry more about poor health.

Part of those retirement fears could be because not all Americans have saved for retirement.

AARP says about half of Americans don’t have access to a workplace retirement plan.

The average American spends about 20 years in retirement, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, but only about half of Americans have calculated how much they will need to retire.

A USA Today survey found 1% of Americans don’t have anything saved and 55% have less than $100,000 saved.
