Police ID man killed in double shooting that injured 16-year-old girl

Jacksonville police say gunfire followed argument at College Park home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man fatally wounded in a double shooting that also critically injured a 16-year-old girl in the College Park neighborhood has been identified, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

When officers arrived to a home at Melanie Avenue and Beam Street, they found a man, later identified as 44-year-old Lamar Epperson, dead on the porch. The teenager was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives were told the victims got into an argument with a man before the shooting, which was reported off Lem Turner Road just north of the Trout River.

Police are looking for witnesses and evidence to help identify the shooter.

This is one of three fatal shootings within 12 hours that Jacksonville homicide detectives are investigating.
